With Great Sadness, We Announce That Noelle Carbonell Has Passed Away

With great sadness, we announce that our colleague Noëlle Carbonell suddenly passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009. She will be remembered as an enthusiastic scientist in our research community. Noëlle Carbonell was professor in computer science at Université Henri Poincaré Nancy 1 and was the scientific leader of the Merlin research team at LORIA and at the INRIA Nancy - Grand Est center. Her research area was human-machine interaction where she worked on ergonomy, multimodal interaction and user-centered issues. Author of numerous publications in the field, Noëlle was a member of several editorial boards. Since 2006, she was secretary/treasurer of SIGACCESS, the Special Interest Group on Accessible Computing of the ACM.
